Alleghany Highlands Blues Society was formed in 2019.
Members of the band include Johnny King-rhthm/lead guitars, slide and vocals; Kevin Persinger-rythm/lead guitars and vocals; Bryan Neal-rhythm/lead guitar; Bobby Deason-guitar and vocals; Billy Berberette-bassist, lead and backing vocals; Neva Persinger-vocals and percussion. New members include Michael Duff on drums, Keven Rice on blues harp. David Pigman, drums, is a special guest on July 2. Shannon Wickline who played keyboards for eight years for the Charlie Daniels band will be joining the group on July 2. King is a national recording artist who has recorded his original music with Grammy Award winners including Buddy Miles, Vassar Clements, Kofi Burbridge and the Maytals. Kevin and Neva Persinger were founding members of the classic rock band, “Detour”. Berberette has played bass for The Mountain Magic Band, Against the Grain, Midnight Fire and Mountain Myst. All members of the band have traveled and shared their talent with various musical groups prior to joining the Alleghany Highlands Blues Society.
