Virginia Opry Sweetheart Tribute to the Grand Ole Opry featuring “a tribute to Patsy Cline by Denise Glass.”

VA Opry 2024 Feb Show

The Commonwealth of Virginia’s official Opry, The Virginia Opry, will open its 33rd performance season on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. on stage at The Historic Masonic Theatre where the Opry made its debut on October 17, 1992.

The Virginia Opry will perform “A Patsy Cline Valentine Tribute to the Grand Ole Opry” featuring Patsy Cline Tribute Artist Denise Glass and Nashville recording artists Bruce Allen, Keith Bryant, Jason Burke, and Glen Shelton.

Denise has opened for the Kentucky Headhunters that set a box office record at The Historic Masonic Theatre on October 28, 2023, and she and Michael Hoover perform “Patsy Meets Elvis at The Virginia Opry,” one of the many shows that The Virginia Opry has performed recently, including a sellout performance at the Natural Bridge Historic Hotel and Conference Center in 2022, that resulted in three standing ovations.

Since she began performing as a teenage-vocalist with her father’s country music band in Jonesville, Virginia, Denise has performed with the Doug Lester Band out of Maryland at venues in several states, including a tribute to Patsy Cline at The Historic Masonic Theatre prior to the closing of theatres in Virginia due to COVID-19.

The four Nashville recording artists who will open for Denise have close ties in that Bruce Allen, who made his debut on The Virginia Opry at The Historic Masonic Theatre when it was owned and operated by Appalfolks of America Association from 1992-2003, is married to Keith Bryant’s sister.

Both Bruce and Keith have Nashville ties where Bruce is part owner of Jordash Records, a label that Keith has recorded for along with other labels such as Lofton Creek where he recorded “Riding with the Legend,” a song he helped write, one that broke into the Top 50 of “Hot Country Songs.” The song, a tribute to Dale Earnhardt who died in a crash in 2001, remains a favorite of NASCAR fans and continues to get airtime across the nation.

Recently, Glen Shelton has recorded at Bruce’s Jordash studio in Nashville, and two of his songs have broken into the Top 50 on a prestigious country music chart. The two songs, “I’m All In” and “Writing You a Love Song” have vaulted Glen’s career as a recording artist by breaking into the “Top 60 on Music Row.” He has been booked at more than 200 venues in 2024.

Glen, a member of The Virginia Opry, first performed at The Historic Masonic Theatre in the mid-1990s, and he continues to serve as an emcee for The Virginia Opry that became the Commonwealth of Virginia’s official Opry on March 31, 2020, when Governor Ralph S. Northam signed “Senate Bill 283.”

Jason Burke, a vocalist and guitarist, teamed with Allen to open for Charles Billingsley at The Virginia Opry’s “It’s Christmas Time Again” at The Historic Masonic Theatre on Dec. 7, the night both he and Allen were inducted into The Virginia Opry. Jason and Bruce often perform as a country music duo.
