Community Drum Circle
May 5th, 3pm to 4pm
FREE (donations appreciated)

You are invited to a Community Drum Circle in downtown Clifton Forge at the Historic Masonic Theatre!

The gathering is free to attend and open to ALL with no experience necessary. Please bring any drum and rhythm instruments that you may have. The whole idea is to have FUN and feel free while also collectively creating music together in the moment.

Greg Burns will host the gathering and will bring a number of drums and rhythm instruments with him that can be used (gently please). He strongly encourages you to bring a drum, or bring a friend, or bring both a drum and a friend and come join the fun! Greg is a local Sound Practitioner who has regularly hosted drum circles in the Staunton area.

After beginning with a brief moment of silence to bring us all together, the drum circle will unfold in a mostly organic fashion. The rhythms we play will be determined by the group that is present and sounds that want to come through us. We will drum and share for about an hour and give another moment of silent thanks before concluding.

We will gather outside on the grounds of the Historic Masonic Theatre with the circle to begin at 3pm. The Theatre is located at 510 Main St., Clifton Forge, Va, although the Amphitheatre is more easily accessed on Church Street directly behind the theatre.

It is FREE to attend the gathering. Donations will be accepted to offer the theatre for them generously allowing use of the space.

There is street parking available all through this area.

With any questions about the drum circle please feel free to send Greg a message directly at metta.vibrations@gmail.com.

USAF Heritage of America Band Community Concert
Monday, June 10, 2019, at 7pm
The John E. Hillert Auditorium
Free Admission, no ticket required.

As we prepare for Flag Day on June 14th, we proudly host the renowned USAF Heritage of America Band on our stage. This free concert is open to everyone. We hope you'll join us.

The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band has a rich history of inspiring hearts and minds, building and sustaining American patriotism, and enhancing esprit de corps in the United States Air Force. It was one of the original Army Air Corps bands, created by order of the Secretary of War on October 1, 1941 and assigned to Barksdale Field, Louisiana. In June 1946, after a short stay at Brooks Field, Texas, the band arrived at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, its current home.

For over seventy-five years, the band has represented the Air Force with musical and military distinction. Members bring music to the mid-Atlantic in live concerts and to the nation in televised events such as "The Today Show" and the DESERT STORM National Victory Parade, as well as presidential inaugural events. The Heritage of America Band has performed ceremonies for U.S presidents and foreign heads of state, including the Queen of England and the President of France. Using today's technology, the band reaches a world wide audience through its website, social media and audio recordings. Additionally, the band travels more than 150,000 miles to perform hundreds of concerts for listeners across a fifteen-state region from Maine to South Carolina.

In recent years, the mission of Air Force Bands has become an expeditionary one. The Blue Aces were among the first groups to tour Southwest Asia and the Horn of Africa to support coalition and Joint forces serving in the Global War on Terrorism.

The USAF Heritage of America Band's exceptional musicianship has earned international critical acclaim and numerous honors: eight Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards, five Air Force Organizational Excellence Awards, four Colonel George S. Howard Citations of Musical Excellence for Military Concert Band, North Carolina's Order of the Long Leaf Pine, and countless state and municipal proclamations. The USAF Heritage of America Band remains at the forefront of preserving and enriching America's musical heritage in the 21st century.
