Kaye is excited to once again present a business seminar for Quilt Shop Owners and/or employees on February 19 (reception) 20, 21 & 22, 2023. The event will begin with an opening reception “meet and greet” on Sunday evening, February 19th, followed by three days of events that will include both business practices and quilting techniques. The “Remember Me” quilt will be featured with methods that include piecing, break-out quilts made from a selection of blocks from the quilt and a variety of methods to teach your consumer while making the quilt. In addition to working with the “Remember Me” quilt blocks, Kaye will suggest ways to best present this program to your customer in order to sell supplies and close sales as you focus on precision piecing. Kaye will help you merge the secrets of making a living while making a life.
CONNECT with peers in roundtable discussions—topics will include class ideas, sales and marketing, sample sewing and how to find time for you!
Kaye says, “I have presented over 10 years of business seminars for retail owners and coordinated another 10+ years of business seminars around the globe. My focus continues to be on basic education of patchwork principles with the goal of empowering each person to discover the ability to be his or her own designer. While I have my preferred methods of achieving good results, we will focus on alternate methods during this event. Our break-out discussions never fail to provide ideas that you will want to implement immediately.
In the fall, a ‘Feed Your Creativity’ Facebook page will be set up for all who register for this seminar—more details will be provided on class structure and optional events.
Once you leave the retreat, you will depart with a complete program, ready to implement in your store along with display, promotion and marketing ideas”.
A former seminar attendee comments, “Kaye’s seminars are for learning, being inspired, relaxing and enjoying friendship. This is an event full of ideas to build classes all year. I learned so much from Kaye about strengthening my business, about being creative, and about being a better person that gives back to my community. Being so busy and dead-line driven, it is often hard to remember that the activities in our stores touch so many. Owning a store is so much more than day-to-day survival. Sharing with other owners and employees allows not only an opportunity to learn but reinforces the right things that I am doing in my shop. I am grateful I took the time to attend this seminar—it has given me ideas and motivation to last a very long time.”
Shopowner sessions will be separate from Consumers Sessions—All quilting instruction will be held
together.

A Kaye England “Quilt Winter Blues Away” Facebook page, monitored by Kaye, will be set up in September 2022 to share information about the Retreat, all questions on fabric, supplies, agenda, and extra-activities will be discussed with Kaye. Informational emails will also be sent to all registrants.
The heart of “Remember Me” is the stunning center radiating star block executed in four different fabric choices. The remaining anchor blocks are tones of those four with some liberty in fabric choices. The quilt has a very busy English style coloring but could be accomplished in any color palette. Variation on a theme is encouraged with all types of options available. This project is suitable for all skill levels.
Seven pieced blocks (four of each) are the anchor blocks, set on point in an organized pattern. Boundless opportunities for creative differences in positioning the blocks, choosing which blocks to use and selection of types of blocks will be covered.
The class will offer a variety of projects utilizing the block choices for those that choose to make a different quilt.
Methods of Piecing. Piecing techniques using specialty rulers of any brand, plus traditional methods for those that choose not to use rulers will be taught. The entire quilt is accuquilt friendly. Focus will be on executing the more complicated blocks in class.
Each of the seven anchor blocks could easily be their own standalone quilt, mixed in countless design choices for beautiful results. Daily inspirations will be shared to tease your “Inner Designer”.
A sewing machine in good working order is required. A very limited number of rental machines will be available from the local quilt store for $25.00.
Supply lists will be provided in the fall. Additional demos and evening sessions are part of the Retreat.
